The “Center” and the Cross

HERE … having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which is contrary to us.  He has NOW taken out of the way (EVERY SIN) having nailed it to the CROSS..so far be it from me to boast except in the CROSS  of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world. Colossians 2:15   Galatians 6:14

 Intro

I praise magnify and adore the LORD with other brothers and sisters in a small storefront building . The building  sits in a small Florida town . It faces south to a railroad track and  west to a park. The park surrounds  a small pond . In the park ,a statute of Ray Charles sits immovable like a royal guard .  Day and night brother Ray is poised playing a  piano . Ready to strike notes we never ever hear . His head is tilted  slightly upward as a reminder that something blind ,weak, and insignificant became insightful and strong right here in Greenville Florida.

“That’s not really Ray Charles ” we teach the young ones  . “it’s just a thing to remind us about him”  we say.

But ,Ray Charles is not the only great story from Greenville. There are volumes of stories flowing from this town about God and Jesus and  all the Holy Ghost’s battles in this town. If there were a statue for every story in Greenville from every  spiritual battle and every valiant warrior, we could rebuild ,yet again ,the legacy of Rome. But now how many of The Lord’s sit  stoically still with  hands poised ready ?  How many spiritual statues await with eager longing?(1)

The Cross Invisible

The stories rumble from the ground with every passing train. Out and  over and in the building where I worship there are dramas . Many twisting  and turning  tales of faith filled fights that became healings of bodies and minds and spirits. They are valiant stories. Stories of folks pulling out the Sword to cauterize addictions. They are gentle stories . Stories of full grown folks becoming children again in the arms of “Abba”  “Daddy” their God and Father . (2) There are volumes  of stories on the shelves of time in a spiritual space .

A story about a wooden cross  first began for me ,in my living room, where a remnant of my church family first met. . We were meeting 50 miles away from Greenville . We came from many places together in a place that had no name. But,  God gives everything a name. So ,one day , He gave a name for our meeting to a young man .(3) The young man was so excited to have the name that he wrote it inside a big Bible dictionary. He wrote ” to the church of the Tuesday nights” It was easy for us  to live up to that name. We met Tuesday after Tuesday night. And, when we invited folks to come, they always remembered what night to come by our name.

In the “church of the Tuesday nights” , Brother Chris preached and teached behind a flowery green end-table topped  with a cross and his bible. We bent our kness on a green rug and we believed with Jesus for everything God promised. That was a story from long ago.

Pepsi stains and watermarks speckle both table and cross now . They stand tucked away in a small room silently speaking a story better than my writing could ever tell. They gather dust like ashes while I drive to Greenville on Sunday morning.

When we moved to the building in Greenville, we did not have a table or a cross. It was all new because Pastor and his family were bringing something new to Greenville. He had a podium for his bible and a new name for his meeting. We didn’t have a cross and we weren’t called a church.  We were named “Renewed Life Outreach Center”.

I thought a lot about why it might be named “center” and not “church”.  I was old thinking when I was younger. And in those days I always would give questions to heaven where answers either come down or where the question would be held hostage.  It was before I learned to TRUST.

This particular question was kept hostage with no earthly answer. But when  I prayed I had to call it something. So, with  Jesus I called it “His church”. (4) But when I was around folks, I would forget the name so often  that I would call it silly names like “skeeter hawk revival” .  And sometimes ,when I wrote a check, I would write “Renewed Life Outreach CHURCH”.

But God , in His mercy, would not let me hurt my head thinking about why we weren’t called church too long .He held the question in His heavenly grip and slowly released an answer to me.

He began speaking first, in Corinth where Paul first had “church”. He took me there where I saw how the apostle Paul set up a place to meet right in a center of the town of Corinth . It was an open storefront and just like my “church” , it was first used as a market .

No one in Corinth that I met could tell me what Paul  called his church . At least they could not tell me what it was called before Paul wrote to us “the church of God in Corinth”.(5)  Maybe he called it a “meeting place” they said.

From reading his letters to these Corinthian folks it surely was some kind of a meeting place!  It was  a meeting place for the dead in sin to be made alive in Christ. It was  a meeting place of deliverance from the sevenfold troubles of pride , gluttony, lust, greed, sloth, wrath and envy that caused divisions among folks in this first congregation.(6) It was such a meeting place for exchanging “the old” for “the new” that it  could have easily been named  “Renewed Life Outreach Center” .  And Paul , the preacher, might have easily stood at the doorway  of the enterance advertising ” cash in those rags for robes, renew your life here”

And, like Renewed Life outreach center, he probably didn’t have a cross in his building either.  He seemed to talk about the cross as a message and not an object.  He wrote words about  it’s invisible effect  but never as an object  to wear or draw .(6)
In fact,  folks around Corinth  told me that they did not have any crosses in town for a long time. Things of life ,like fishes and peacocks ,spoke the effect of the cross from one believer to another. https://churchpop.com/2015/08/14/8-ancient-christian-symbols-and-their-hidden-meanings/ Rumors , rubble and written books all say that the cross was an object of shame in the early church.  It did not speak of freedom but ,instead ,was a symbol of the death of slaves. (7)

Folks made signs with their hands of the cross 200 years before they drew them .It really wasn’t until the 4th century that a cross was first brought visible as a display of faith. Constantine abolished crucifixion as was practiced in Rome and brought forth the Cross as a display of this victory. They say that brother Constantine might have had the right spirit about the work of Jesus’s particular  cross. He knew the Spirit spoke that Jesus physical cross was used victorious over the devil and death.

But the Devil took Constantines thinking away from the Spirit of the cross and had many people killed who didn’t see the cross in the way Constatine did.   The Beauty of the cross mixed again with Bloody sinners in the Crusades and became a message of death and slavery.

All the rest of His Story about the cross is a tug of war between the true message freedom and the Devil’s message of slavery.(8)

The “chi rho” symbol adopted by Constatine meaning “to Christ” the victory

The Cross Visible

It wasn’t four hundred years but, just   four years that Renewed Life Out reach church was without a cross.  It did not seem like  four years. It just felt like we were as  Paul’s Corinth church. And it wasn’t for lack of believing in the cross. The whole mission of RLOC was “birthed out of the desire to see Gods people walking in and possessing all that was purchased for them by Jesus’s death ON THE CROSS” http://www.facebook.com/RenewedLifeOutreachCenter . Similarly ,a sign outside our building was wooden with a painting of a purple cross and our name.

“Where’s your cross” a visitor asked.

I held the cross on my neck. “No I mean a real live cross. You should have one” she insisted.

We just don’t have a cross” I told the visitor who asked

“we believe in the Jesus’s work on the cross”. I said , reciting something I heard a pastor once say.

She looked at me , then looked again around the room as if for a lost best friend. She then hurried out the back door facing the railroad and never came back. She eventually  found her friend . She found her friend in a place where a cross hung from a ceiling in a big church with colored windows.

Even though I was settled that we didn’t need a cross, I would sneak to chapels with colored windows late at night to pray alone and  see a cross .  And always, In  RLOC,  i might see the cross on the video screen from the back door on cloudy Sunday mornings .

As the four years passed, I would see more and more crosses everywhere.   I would see crosses on necks , in pictures on walls,  on tattooed  arms, ankles and chests, as screens on computers, hovering over churches, in the hands of the dying.

Every day I saw them more and more  peeking through bushes, as clouds in the sky, as breaking beams of sun, in cracks on side walks, on lattice windows and doors, even in prison gates.  One day, on Good Friday, I made a cardboard cross and took it to the park where Ray Charles sits ever so still . I wanted everyone to see the cross .

Crosses were every where in those years. And on top of that , Pastor was preaching like Paul every Sunday ,for all four years, the message of the cross. https://soundcloud.com/vunglaub/sets/the-kingdom-of-his, a playlist on #SoundCloud. The cross was a tool to see our Savior and not a trinket to throw on a night stand or hang on a wall.

He had us look at  every angle and side of the cross that could be seen. We looked so much at crosses our eyes felt splinters. Even some felt nails in their hearts and crowns on their heads. Everyone felt the work of the cross in their own individual way .

But not many talked together about it. We just talked of hunting and knitting, eating and fasting, working and retiring, if we talked at all.  And we were a lot like that church in Corinth. Each one walking his own way.

The Cross Indivisible

But then, in the 4th year,  on April 2nd , something began to change. It was Sunday during the first worship song . Some were singing aloud , some were singing silently, some did not sing. Some had eyes open. Some had eyes shut.

Open or shut, our  eyes were chosing to see other people or problems or pain instead of the power of God. But, we centered our stance toward a podium or a screen expectant of something greater than ourselves .

As the first song played, our eyes were everywhere. There was not central place to set our eyes. There was no object that we all could converge on . Some were upward expectant at ceilings (9) , some downcast at the floor (10) . Some looking at the podium, some the screen. Some with eyes in the back of their head staring at the man or woman across the room.

Eyes were all over. Inward and outward. Eyes making judgement about what they saw. But  , that Sunday , when Houston and Roland wheeled the cross through the back door, all eyes turned to them and turned to the cross.

It came through the very door that my friend had walked out. It came during a pause of our wandering eyes and worship . It came right when I was wondering if we were a church or a center. It came when sinners were looking for Jesus and the saints were saying “jesus” while secretly sinning

The cross came when I, a sinner against a Holy God, was looking for Jesus and when, I, a saint, had been given everything  of Jesus to keep me from sinning.  It came tall wooden and varnished, with a small base, on wheels. And we all turned and looked with surprise when Pastor said “we have a cross”

“So Houston I gotta meet with you to find out about that cross” I said to Houston later that Sunday. “okay ” he said.

“I bet you got a story about that Cross ” I said in great anticipation.

“I guess “he said drying off from his baptism.

When the time came , I shot round after round of questions at Houston” “So what made you make that cross. . . oh it was you and Roland making that cross . . what were yall doing that you thought of it making a cross .  . oh an altar at the base of that cross. . . oh too big you say . . . then wheels for that cross. . . so you loaded that cross in the truck . . . what made you even think of all this . .  what made you make this cross Houston?” I paused to breathe

Houston stared at me in silence perhaps wondering if I would let him answer. I stared back trying to hold back more questions.

“Well, Miss Vanessa,” Houston began pausing to make sure I would listen. “Well,  I saw we didn’t have a cross. and thought to my self don’t every church need a cross.?”(11)

“that’s it”

“Yep” he said

“Okay Houston. That’s  it “I said and walked away. I walked away wanting only to remember the April day the cross first stood center in the church. The answer to every question.

The altar that Houston had only imagined drew many that day. The cross loudly preached  the answer to every question that longed for truth. It preached a surrender of more than was possible. It preached like  tounges of the Holy Ghost  in my soul saying “By The Spirit of the Cross all things are possible”. It bellowed and whispered, it wooed and wept and it awakened and warned. It was not a piece of wood at all , it became the center point in the church. It spoke the message of Jesus’s death for my sins and renewed life in my freedom from sin. And it spoke with The Spirit . The visible spoke of the INVISIBLE.(12)

The upward plank  still speaks each Sunday , every Sunday,  of how much we need our savior. And the reaching planks , where His arms bore the nails, speak of how much we need His Love for one another. What joy set before Him compelled  His outstretched arms of Love  for this church?  How generous His Spirit for  every dead church to become a LIVE and WELL church beneath These arms!

Suddenly , centered in the shadow of this cross, made by our own brothers, we touch heaven  and  we rightly touch one another with heaven and change the face of those on earth. (13) Here we are clothed by Jesus that we may rightly wear the “Renewed Life Outreach ” shirt because our hearts are “Centered” on Him. Here is His Cross. And Beneath it He finds HIS JOY , His Bride.(14)

Where’s Jesus ? He’s not on the cross” the little child asked , yesterday , on Pentacost Sunday.

“oh He’s here ” I said as I pointed to the church worshipping.” He’s off the cross He’s alive in them”

And yes, Houston,” every church needs a cross. “And every cross needs a church. Thank you dear brothers Roland and Houston for your obedience to the cross. … an obedience that gave THIS CHURCH A CENTER and the center is THE CROSS.

“For in him all the fullness of God was pleased to dwell, and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether on earth or in heaven, making peace by the blood of his cross.”

‭‭Colossians‬ ‭1:19-20‬ ‭ESV‬‬

AMEN

Foot of the Cross Notes

  1. Romans 8 :22 For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together like in pains of childbirth for the revealing of the sons of God.
  2. Romans 8:15 . .  having received the Spirit of adoption as sons and daughter we cry “Abba Father”
  3. Psalm 147:4 He telleth the number of the stars; he calleth them all by name
  4. Ephesians 5:27 So that he might present the Church (HIS BRIDE) to Himself in splendor without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.
  5. I Corinthians 1:2 To the church of God that is in Corinth , to those sanctified IN JESUS CHRIST call to be SAINTS TOGETHER with all those who in every place call upon the NAME of OUR LORD Jesus Christ both their LORD and ours.
  6. 1 Corinthians 1:18 For the MESSAGE of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.
  7. The letters to the Corinthians are loving instructions to a congregation who was born again as new creatures able to live free of what the ancients called “the seven deadly sins” that the enemy uses to kill God’s children.
  8. My brother named John Calvin long ago among others incited hostility against the physical image of the cross. He stated that it was” impossible to visually depict God who is invisible and transcendent therefore it is idolotry” This teaching resulted in the destruction of many crosses and art inspired by the Holy Spirit to draw sons and daughters to a deeper love for the invisible three in one reality of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost. Brother Calvin and I  are no longer friends on this matter.  I have seen again and again the cross is an visible though perishable reality of an invisible imperishable reality. And that reality is the GOSPEL.
  9. Mark 2:4 Since they could not get him to Jesus because of the crowd they made an opening in the roof above Jesus by digging through it and then lowered the mat the man was lying on. Some look to the ceiling desperately seeking a miracle
  10. Matthew 15:27yes it is Lord” she said “Even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table” Some look to the floor for but a crumb as a sign of a miracle
  11. Exodus 36:1Bezalel and Oholiab and every skilled person in whom the LORD has put ability and understanding to know how to do all the work in the construction of the sanctuary shall work according to all that the LORD HAS COMMANDED
  12. Colossians 1:15 Jesus is the (ONLY) image of the invisible GOd the firstborn of all creation. For by Him all things were created, in heaven and on earth visible and invisible . . . all things were created through Him and for HIm!
  13. The caption on the back of the “Renewed Life Outreach Center” T-shirt reads “Touching Heaven changing Earth” . It speaks of our upward reach like the upward beam of the cross to Heaven  and our outward reach in heavenly blessings as the outward beam of the cross to one another and the community.
  14. Finally Hebrew 12:2,12 we LOOK TO JESUS THE AUTHOR AN FINISHER OF OUR FAITH, WHO FOR THE JOY THAT WAS SET BEFORE HIM ENDURED THE CROSS DESPISING THE SHAME AND HAS SAT DOWN AT THE RIGHT HAND OF THE THRONE OF GOD. . . . THEREFORE STRENGTHEN THE HANDS WHICH HANG DOWN AND FEEBLE KNEES AND MAKE STRAIGHT PATH FOR YOUR FEET SO THAT WHAT IS LAME MAY NOT BE DISLOCATED ED BUT RATHER HEALED.

Doodling On

“Attend to me, and hear me: I am restless in my complaint, and moan noisily, Because of the voice of the enemy. . . my heart is pained within me. . . So I say to you oh Lord. . .”oh that I had wings like a dove! I would fly away and be at rest” from Psalm 55:1-6
Doodle went on today.

Or maybe it was YESTERDAY.Or. .. .

Maybe it was  a certain time last night,. . . ..

Last night when a cry for her to be “unknotted” went barreling out of  Daddy’s  house .Maybe it was when we were all gathered together, talking to Our Father, about bringing Doodle home healed.  Maybe , it was the very moment, when we were all were seeing pictures with the eyes of our heart and, SUDDENLY, one brother cried out “I see you  untie a knot in her belly Lord. Loose her Lord!” . Some say now , that  Doodle went on shortly after that cry.

But I don’t know how all that “untying of the knot” looked . . . I don’t even know what the knot inside her looked like. I just know the cry for Doodle sounded like it would send the hand of heaven right into Doodle. Right smack dab in and over and under the belly of her soul. And right there on her bed, in her belly, the Word would make a healing happen

.  No one  talked much after these words entered the room last night. We all just left them .But, like a vapor in the room, each Word drifted out the door ahead of us .(1)

I went home thinking a lot that night.. . . .  I was thinking bout the first time I held a “doodle bug ” in my hand. And, then, I was thinking bout when I last held my sister  “Doodle Bug” and tucked her in her bed.

My mind went from memories of 50 years to memories of YESTERDAY.  Like a shoestring ready for tying, I had in one hand,  my thoughts bout real live doodle bugs of childhood and, on the other hand ,my thoughts were about my real live  sister “Doodle”. If Doodle needed unknotting as the brother cried, I needed a tying together. I needed  these two memories to knot before I tripped and fell.(2)

In the left hand I held , LONG AGO.  I would think about “LONG AGO” when I held a “doodle bug” in my hand. I would think about  how I had walked many miles of  the beach with my grandfather. How, after our long walk, when granddaddy felt I had enough swimming and shells , he headed me back along a long wooden  seawalk .

Long ago, Granddaddy and I  walked  past sand dunes of  seaweed and sticker beds to his green sedan. Here I saw him, in my mind ,taking the white hat off his bald head and  brushing the sand off his feet .Then, I could see, on this one day LONG AGO, how I wandered under the planks to see a little bug .  A little bug walking in circles. .

Lookie Granddaddy, this bug is going round and round”. I said as I ran   in circles in the sand kicking up dirt ”  That’s just a antlion ” he called back

” What do you call it Granddaddy.?” I shouted

“just call it a doodle bug. . . call it a doodle bug ” he repeated.

But , then, at the same time, on my right hand was yesterday. . . it was just Yesterday  “Doodle bug”. I shouted into the ICU room. “What are you doing here?”

“I had to see you so you could pray for me” Doodle said softly.

Long ago Granddaddy said, on that day,”And you, my little doodle bug, come  on now  over here into the car” He said as he opened the car door.

“But Granddaddy catch him for me . . . I wanna take him home.” I called back to him. I wanted to take the little bug home to my collection of butterflies and snails and inch worms.”please please get him for me” I whinned as I kept running  in circles.

“I will be most excited to pray” I said YESTERDAY . Doodle’s face lifted, it lifted her glasses over her eyebrows.

“And now I know you know how to pray Vanessa ” Doodle encouraged ” you know you don’t have to use a lot of words AND you know that Our Daddy hears us right away” she said remembering our last time of prayer.https://vunglaub.wordpress.com/2015/01/23/doodling-words/ We laughed . We could laugh because we were older . It had been a Long time since we last prayed.

But a real  LONG TIME ago, Granddaddy walked over to the sand . Maybe smiling, maybe secretly delighting, he scooped both bug and grains in his hand.(3) He bent his knees and held his hand to let me see. “you hold it ” he said. Suddenly I saw  the beetle who had relayed in the sand so furiously ,then roll into a tight ball and become perfectly still.

“What should we ask Daddy for together  Doodle Bug?” I asked YESTERDAY “To Show you off for Jesus and you walk out of here tomorrow? ” I suggested.

“how about that I could just get some rest”. Doodle replied.

“anything else Doodle? come on . . .”I coaxed.” He’s sooo good lets ask for a lot. .”

“No , sister, that’s enough, we can ask for more tomorrow. Just some rest tonight.” she said as she took off her glasses and set them on the bedside table.

“well Doodle, I’m lifting  you in prayer by the power of Jesus, into Daddy’s hand, where you can be as snug as a bug in a rug and get some rest” She laughed and let me pray. When enough was said, she entered her voice with a soft  “now Amen”. Then, she closed her eyes and whispered “you get some rest with Daddy too.”

The next day I went to see Doodle. I went to see how her rest would restore. Restore her right out the door. I went to see how we might then go out ,on a spring day and chase butterflies with Rita Skeeter. I went with flowers and a card full of pictures of places I wanted to go with her. Places where we would have room to raise our hands out to Daddy. Places where we could stretch out before Jesus. And places where we could run wild with the Holy Ghost. Places for the well and the rested.

That was yesterday . But LONG AGO, I remember seeing the bug in my Granddaddy’s hand and being very afraid and sad. “What happened Granddaddy? Did he die?” I asked.

YESTERDAY , I was afraid and sad again. I looked and looked in many rooms but did not find Doodle. When I sat down exhausted, Rita said “I’m sorry but Doodle passed on last night” I wept. Jesus wept. The Holy Ghost grieved. “Daddy, Abba,Father “……we all cried.

I fell asleep weeping and remembering LONG AGO Granddaddy’s reply “The bug is “resting”  . ” He is showing you what to do .” He lowered his hand back to the ground to roll  the bug onto the sand . ” But this is not your home . . .this is this little doodle bug’s  home and we are leaving him right here to rest “(3)

He grabbed my arm while talking about “resting” and “naps” and “don’t be so busy” and “you have way to much energy” Arguing and pulling against His arm I cried , ” But, ill never get to see lil doodle again. . .”

Looking back at the bug ,as it uncurled and scurried in the sand, I let my loose hand free and began to wave “Good bye Doodle Bug”

That was a LONG TIME ago before I knew Doodle Bug. That was when Our Father showed us pictures as children, like shadows , of what will soon come.(4) Now is the time when Doodle bug will never move backwards, or play with me again ,on this earth.

Yet, Now is the time Doodle bug will never long for rest . She is loosed in heaven entering a rest where all that we believe is seen. .(5) Doodle bug has put her glasses down . She sees everything brilliantly. She sees face to face Our Father and Our Savior. She is loosed to see what she longed to believe. The knot of sin and death is undone.!(6)

Long ago and Yesterday have met in Forever in my hands as I write and remember. And in the place of  Forever, no more prayer is needed for my sister Doodle. She is resting in the AMEN.(7)

  1. Psalm 141:2 tells us that our prayers are “set before (the Lord) as incense” and Jeremiah 1:12 tells us “you have seen well, for I am watching over my word to perform it”
  2. Ecclesiastes 4:6, 12.” Better is a handful with quietness, than both the hands full with travail and vexation of spirit. . a threefold chord is not quickly broken. ” So it is , an agreement with the Holy Spirit, in the midst of  a conflict of our souls ,will bring the unbroken strength of quietness and trust in God.
  3. Our earthly fathers are only a hint of the image , a shadow of the glory, of our Heavenly Father who watches over us every moment saying”The Lord thy God is in the midst of the thee, He is mighty and he will save and He REJOICES OVER THEE WITH JOY AND HE WILL REST IN HIS LOVE HE WILL JOY OVER THEEE WITH SINGING.
  4. Psalms 144:4 Man is like a breath; his days are like a passing shadow Colossians 2:17 These are a shadow of the things to come But the substance belongs to Christ.
  5. Now this I say brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does corruption inherit incorruption . . . Behold a mystery We shall not all SLEEP BUT WE Shall all be changed.” 1 Corinthians 15:51. “For now we see in a mirror dimly but then face to face Now we know in part but then we shall know just as we are truly known “1 Corinthians 13:12
  6. The sting of death is sin and the strength of sin is the law But thanks be to God who gives us the victory through out Lord Jesus Christ. I Corinthians 15:57
  7.  “To go to heaven fully to enjoy God is infinitely better than the most pleasant accommodations here.  fathers and mothers, husbands, wives, children, or the company of earthly friends , are but shadows. Bu the enjoyment of God is the substance. These are but scattered beams, but God is the sun. These are but streams, but God is the fountain. These are but drops, but God is the ocean. ”              Jonathan Edwards

Spring Planting : Good Friday 2016

girl with shovel

See to it sister that “you do not fail to obtain the grace of God: that no ‘root of bitterness’ spring up and cause you trouble . . . forgive as you have been forgiven by Christ so that you will not be outwitted by Satan. . . cause we ain’t ignorant of his designs” Hebrews 12:15 & 2 Corinthians 2:10,11

We plant forgiveness and we wait for love to bloom. I waited a year to see the fruit of forgiveness. Now , today ,almost to the date of my planting with Jesus , I hear a pleasant report. Therefore I repost this blog as a true testimony that when you forgive as He is forgiving  you, you will surely see the blooms of the resurrection of Love in your midst!

The Big Sister’s call

Hurry , my sister it’s Spring , it’s Spring!!

Put that Stoney thing in the dirt

For We must run and sing!!

Get Shovel, Get Hoe

Lest that Bitter Thing grow!

Put that Stoney Thing in the dirt

Lest the Devil soon sow!!

The Little Sister’s cry

But Sister, Sister , it stings, it stings

So it never will ever feel like spring!

I’ve a wound so tender , like a boulder at my core!

No friend , no doc, no priest could speak to a thing so sore!

Or release this Stone that the Enemy threw to settle a score!

No Goliath with gall, or David with sling, or Samson so tall or Peter could bring

My heart to be healed from the hurt of this damn Stoney thing!!

The Big Sister’s call

But Sister, but Sister, it’s Spring!!

Now put that Stoney thing in the dirt!

So you can laugh and sing!

Get shovel, Get hoe

Lest that Bitter thing grow!

Put that Stoney thing in the dirt

Lest far away your heart go

The Little Sister’s cry

But Sister, Sister, it stings, it stings

And now there is no longer hope for my Spring

For I claim this wound as a part of my being

And I strive no more for hearing and seeing!

So many ask me “how have you been”

I just reply “I feel the effects of sin”

I carry the stone daily like a cross on my back

I sleep with it nightly tucking it in dreams and pillow sacks!

My soul never considers what it has but always talks of what it lacks.

The Big Sister’s Call

Oh Sister, dear Sister, it’s Spring

Put that stoney thing in the dirt

So you may dress in robe and ring!

Get shovel, get hoe

Lest that bitter thing grow

Put that Stoney thing in the dirt!

Perhaps to church you should go!

The Little Sister’s Cry

But Sister, Sister , in church it will stink!

I am dead like Lazarus with no life of my own to bring!

Might it stink when I bring it to others to be buried?

Besides, I have much to prove now and my time is quite harried!

It is best dear sis that I pretend it not there!

Besides, this stone on my heart is really no ones care.

Perhaps heaven will own it if I ever get there.

The Big Sister’s Plea

Oh Sister, Stubborn Sister, come out into Spring

Put that Stoney thing in the dirt

And Let Jesus do a Resurrection thing!

Get shovel, Get hoe

Lest that Bitter thing grow

Put that Stoney thing in the dirt

Let your Spirit yield and your Pride forgo!!

The Little Sister’s Fear

But Sister, my Sister, I will be all alone

As I rip away from my heart this UNFORGIVING STONE

And I cry out to Jesus “If only you were home!!?”

Oh Sister, your prayers cause me to quiver with this shovel and hoe in hand

You are speaking strange words in a tongue I do not understand

Oh sister , Oh Sister will I be all alone?

The Big Sister prophesies

Sweet sister, Sweet Sister, See He is your Spring!!

When you put that Stoney thing in the dirt , watch a LILLIE HE BRING

How free you will be and a new song you will sing

and then,  . my Sister You WILL KNOW HE is SPRING!

The Little Sister Laments as Jesus Plants

Oh Sister , O Sister, Look now He weeps on my Heart!

The stone falls off gently , from tender edges it parts.

He lays it deep in the dirt of HIS EMPTY GRAVE!!

And grave side He calls me “child” no longer “slave”

Oh sister, O sister, why so long did I wait?

Holding tight to this hurt and bound to it’s hate?!!

I hurt Him so deeply with this stone on my heart!!

It is buried today Sister, forever to depart!!

Thinking on these things …

WHEN I THINK ON THESE THINGS. . . . . .

A poem for Jesus from the children of God . . . .

When I think on these things ,

I see you are most TRUE!

When Song and Dance Enter THE BRIDE, each Sunday, ANEW
And Praising Hands Lift HER many Troubles to Troubles that flew
And YOUR BRIDE arises tall from pew to pew.
WHEN I THINK ON THESE THINGS, I THINK OF WHAT IS TRUE!
When I think on these things,
I SEE YOU ARE SO HONEST
when Your Word and Your Voice crush every sin among us
And LOVE binds tightly to encourage hearts towards fondness
And YOUR BRIDE grows big with your created ONENESS
WHEN I THINK ON THESE THINGS , I THINK OF WHAT IS HONEST
When I think on these things
I SEE YOU ARE ALWAYS JUST
When Prayers prayed rightly cast out pride and fear and lust
And anointing oils keep eternal flow dissolving deadly rust
And your BRIDE stands strong in  your Boldness and Trust
WHEN I THINK ON THESE THINGS, I THINK OF WHAT IS JUST
When I think on these things
I SEE YOU AS PERFECTLY PURE
When children hear Jesus and look certain and sure
And the” least of these” reminds each heart of what LOVE will cure
And the Bride lies down to a Faith that will forever endure
WHEN I THINK ON THESE THINGS , I THINK OF WHAT IS PURE
WHATEVER WE THINK ON TOGETHER SEEMS MOST LOVELY,
LIKE THE RADIANCE OF YOUR FACE on THE DAY YOU FIRST SAW ME
WHATEVER WE THINK ON SEEMS MOST ADMIRABLE

LIKE THE CROWN ON YOUR HEAD THE DAY YOU FIRST DIED FOR ME

WHATEVER WE THINK ON TOGETHER SEEMS MOST EXCELLENT
LIKE THE GRIP OF YOUR HAND TODAY AS YOU LEAD ME

WHEN I THINK ON THESE THINGS.

I WANT TO THINK ON  THESE THINGS

WITH YOU

ALL THE MORE!!

HAVE THIS MIND AMONG YOURSELVES, WHICH IS YOURS IN CHRIST JESUS

PHILLIPIANS 2:5

A righteousness not my own

At times we must return to remember what The Lord once tenderly taught us. This is a post refined and matured from 3 years ago . Difficulties and darts seemed to  dull the glorious truth once planted so deep in my spirit But. . .He waters His word with our tears and so it grows !. I thank my church for  refreshing me in truth and  growing me up in this word …image

When we first enter church on Sunday  there is a sense that all of what the preacher is saying, and all of what the songs are proclaiming,  and all of what the folks are “naming and claiming”, is very far away.

Entering , we realize how we have forgotten much from the week before. There were so  many large and heavy words said in the church that were not said outside the church on the days that followed Sunday. We enter with the shadow and dust  of the world. It follows us in like a dark cloud .

Yet quickly , ” the dust settles” and the veil of fog lifts when Pastor prays. At that moment , the Holy Ghost, like a stage hand, draws back the dark shadow of dust and fog . With a strong arm He pulls back the curtain to introduce God. BEHOLD YOUR GOD !!!The Holy Ghost shouts!! He shouts in whispers deep into souls.

Here, at that moment , God becomes very big and very glorious in our minds . And , at that moment , when the songs are sung, God becomes very strong and able in our hearts . And , at that moment, when Pastor preaches, God becomes very near and pressing in our minds . And , at that moment ,when the people touch us and pray , God becomes very Merciful and Healing. He becomes present. He becomes  Just like Jesus in our midst.

BUT, the moment we leave the door, that moment when we echo our last “good-by”, all His glory begins to shrink. There seems to be a commonness of life that steals the glorious. We sense someone has stolen the “garment of praise” and “the robe of righteousness” right off our back .

To begin to walk ” in faith” , to even write this  is to press into greater obedience.  I began to wrestle as I do on Sunday afternoons. I begin  to hold a fear of losing sight of His worth and glory. I have given my writing to Him and felt always that to privately write Him was my act of worship. At times,  He would have me write to others but never publicly.

Worship is where God magnifies Himself to us and we in turn adore Him. So God would do so when I would write. It was like entering church for me, an entering in and being dressed by God in His glory and His righteousness.

My greatest fear was that I would either become self-righteous or would fail if I tried to glorify Him in public. This is how the enemy keeps us from worshipping Our Lord with our gifts.

So also, He hinders us as we go into the world. We all carry His Word as our worship and have Christ’s commission to proclaim. But , This is sooooo often  held back by our greatest fears of self-righteous pride or of shame and failure. This is when we operate from ourselves, our feelings.  The enemy has us think we will be stripped of all of His presence as we go out , as we obey a call from the Spirit . We suddenly  feel naked reaching  hard to grab clothes of righteousness to put on. We reach for clothes when we are already dressed IN HIM and BY HIM!!!.

BUT GOD.. But God we hear from Pastor Chris , From every worship song , from every prayer.   “But God” does not leave us undressed.   When we leave the door of the church, we feel naked of His presence only because we have let our minds forget we are clothed!!!!We are a royal priesthood dressed in the most glorious gowns and robes ! Designer Gowns and Robes labeled “Jesus”.

We are not like the royal one  in the children’s story by Hans Christian Anderson (1837). In the story , “The Emperor’s new clothes” a king commissions a designer to make clothes. He is fooled that he has the best designed suit but ,  he is actually naked . The king displays nakedness in the street  thinking he is clothed.  How often we are like this royal one ? When we try to design our own clothes are we not like this foolish emperor? In an opposition to the truth , we are foolish in our thinking when we, ones who are clothed in Christ,  think we are naked ?

As the Emperor did not know he was an old naked man when he went before the crowd, we do not know we are a clothed “new” man when we go into the world.  When we forget that Christ has bore EVERY sin from dark sins of the body or mind or tongue to the self-righteous sins of body , mind and tongue  on Himself.  (Galatians 5:21) , we forget we are saved.  We forget we are covered eternally in “robes of righteousness”.  We forget we are pure children and “if children then heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ!” What Christ is wearing today, at this moment , is what we are wearing.

To look at this glorious truth and forget it is called  “double mindedness’ (James- 1:8, 22-25).  Like the Emperor we do not know what we look like.  But to know what we look like is to have a single mind, the mind of Christ.  The Scriptures of  Isaiah 61:10  describe how we are dressed: “with garments of salvation (SOZO) and robes of righteousness”

As my mind agrees in greater certainty  with my spirit that holds the clothes of Isaiah 61:10, I then agree with God.  And , only as I agree with God ,can I write this blog , can I go and pray, can I love , can I produce fruit or gifts or desire my greatest treasure and worship Jesus with my whole life. !!

The glory of God does not only  sit inside a few moments on Sunday morning. It sits on the inside of me. It sits certain and bright.   It sits on the inside of us His Bride , The Church !! It has dressed us beautifully in a “robe of righteousness” and a “garment of  salvation” that we may live and act to the “praise of His glorious grace”.

A Friend called Frog

20151003-141813.jpg

A Friend called Frog

True stories about my brother, in Jesus, named “Frog” and  inspired in my soul by  a message by Brother Ansel Norton .

And the voice came to Peter a second time, “Peter, what God has made clean, do not call common.” (Acts 10:15) And Peter said to the Jews ” you yourselves know how unlawful it is for a Jew to associate with or to visit anyone of another nation, but God has shown me that I SHOULD NOT CALL ANY PERSON COMMON OR UNCLEAN”           (Acts 10:28)

I know a man named “FROG”.

“where did he get that name?” I asked my big sister a who had known Frog many years.

“His mamma gave him that name” my big sister answered in her “matter of fact “way.

“Well, why did she name him that name ” I asked

“Guess its cause of how he talks” she said

“hmm, yep, I guess” I said as I thought of the last words that I heard Frog say when I saw him in the park Tuesday.

frog

A whole week and a Sunday had passed since I last saw Frog. But I could remember clearly how Frog’s words entered the air as his hands lifted in praise. That day, I started thinking aloud . . .”. Well that day ,he sure enough had a different way of talking . It sure enough did sound like the croaking of a frog rising out of deep waters”.

My big sister doesn’t  say much else about Frog. She doesn’t even say he is “different” . She just says he “talks different”.. But she says that about me too. See, my big sister likes short pointed sentences and I talk with long circular sentences.

Sometimes , after i stop talking to breathe, she looks at me with her head tilted to one side and says “you talk funny”. I like how she says it. It doesn’t hurt at all. I think it doesn’t hurt cause when she talks to me , the room fills with Daddy’s love. Daddy calls it “sincere love” (1).  She brings His sincere love with her every time she comes down from His lap.

Not everyone is like my Big sister. Most folks talk without having been with Daddy. They use the word “different” when talkin or textin or facebookin to one another. But, when they are smack dab in front of us, they say , ever so sweetly, the word “special”. They make their syllables long and say “your sooo speeeeeeeciaaaaal!” They think that we are so different that they have to use a completely different language when talking to us.

When these folks talk to “special” folks like Fog and me , we just smile back and say “Well , you are special too!” We don’t use  long syllables like they use  cause we can’t talk like them. Frog sounds croaky and I sound  like circles spinning.  But both of us try to let our heart hear how Jesus would talk.  Then, we  let our whole being speak like Jesus would tell them , in Love.

” well, brother, well sister, you are special too” we say.as we throw our arms around them.  . I don’t really know if Jesus made His words long or short, slow or fast. I don’t know if He hugged lots of folks.   I just know every word came out in “sincere  and perfect Love”.

In fact, Jesus is  alive and talking to them right when they are talking to us.  ,  Jesus is smiling at them right then and saying with us the exact same thing. So when it  frustrates us to say “your special ” and  we get misunderstood cause it  doesn’t come out clear., we ask  Jesus to say it to their hearts.

He talks to hearts and  each word is  perfectly clear.  No one  who hears His  voice  in their heart misunderstands Him.

Everything became beautiful and clear when I  first  heard Jesus call me “special”. I looked at Him and  My entire face changed into excitement (2). Lot of folk faces look like they are not excited about being called “special” by Jesus.  Some look afraid but most have a “plain face”. I used to have a plain face  it looks bored or “indifferent”. Faces like that just havent ears to hear Jesus say “you’re special”.  Hearing changes your whole face.

Sometimes I ask the Holy Ghost to pass out hearing aids to these “special ones” that don’t have ears.  Everytime I am in Daddy’s house I ask the  Holy Ghost to give us hearing aids.

One day, after I asked Daddy for these “hearing aids”, a brother from another town came to preach.  He came to tell us what Daddy thought about “different folks” . As soon as Brother Norton began saying, “I’m gonna tell you what God showed Peter bout being “different”, I started thinking about Peter.

Peter was the first in a lot bad things and the first in a lot of good things.  He was the first to call Jesus “Lord ” and the first to deny Him, He was the first to be called “blessed” and the first to be called “satan” He was the first to walk on water and the first to sink.  But best of all He was the first to be called a  “different ” name by Jesus.

Jesus called Peter “Cephas” which means “rock”.  Jesus told Peter that on this “special” “different” “rock”, the church would be built. But, Peter didn’t really hear Jesus until Jesus went to sit with Daddy and was praying for him. From Acts Chapter 10, The visiting brother showed us  how Peter learned what Daddy thought about things that are “different”. He showed us Peter hearing the voice of Jesus.

Our visiting brother Norton showed us how we should hear Daddy’s word and see through Jesus’s heart.  He showed us how what was “different” was different by Divine design of Daddy.  And we should not be indifferent or bored about what is “different” but instead see how what is “different” makes a “difference”.  He kept saying “your difference makes a difference”.  The “special” children that could hear kept repeating “amen” “amen” with every “your difference makes a difference”. And with every “amen” shame , like a roach, scurried out the door.

I kept looking at the door.  I wasn’t looking to watch  shame  leave but looking  for my brother Frog to come in.  I knew he would love to hear the visiting brother’s words from Daddy.

“Come on Daddy please send the Holy Ghost to get my friend Frog.  I know you want him here Daddy!!” I kept talkin’ to Daddy thinking I could get Him to go down yonder and drag Frog into the house. Frustrated , I tapped the shoulder of Frog’s friend Gerald. . .

“Where’s Frog?” I whispered

“He’s home restin cause  he got beat up by some ‘jitter bug ‘ in the park last night” Gerald replied

“What kinda bug is that? What kinda bug  did you say beat him up?’ I asked

” silly , it ain’t no bug its folks that just  beat up people that are different” Gerald replied

I leaned back to listen again. The message was ending . .” so we are going to pray , cause we understand that Jesus himself was different and the reason He came was to make a difference”

(to be continued)

  1. Romans 12:9 ” Love must be sincere” or “Love must be genuine” or “Love must be without hypocrisy”
  2. 2 Corinthians 3:18- 19 And we all , with unveiled face, beholding the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image rom one degree of glory to another .  For this comes from the Lord who is the Spirit.

Frog and the Face of Jesus

20150811-122737.jpgHe had no form or majesty that we should look at him and no beauty that we should desire Him, He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief. BUT he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities. Upon Him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and WITH HIS WOUNDS WE ARE HEALED  (ESV) Isaiah 53:2, 5

For God , who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness” has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the GLORY  OF GOD IN THE FACE OF JESUS CHRIST” ESV 2 Corinthians 4:6

“Aint nobody going to the park today . You might as well stay home.” the old brother said , looking down unto me while I was tying my shoes.

“I told you boy, there are always three folks there! ” I said as I looped the last lace. Then bouncing on both feet I held up four fingers “Daddy, Jesus, the Holy Ghost and me!”

“you mean one folk .” he said shaking his head and walking away .

“NO , NO , No! ” I said jumping up and down ” There are three in one!! Daddy , Jesus and the Holy Ghost !! ”

The old brother turned quickly . “Well, I’m just sayin. . . . if you go and you are all alone out there you might get hurt. . . .like Gerald said. . . maybe by one of them jitterbugs .” he warned.

I pounded my chest showing that my heart was not hurt anymore. There was no sting.  I was healed of the jitterbug bite in the night.  “See. . .. Lookie, ” I said ” I’m all dressed for the park” I stood before the brother touching my head, my chest my waist,  my feet.  I had the whole armor on for the first time in my life. Then , picking up Daddy’s book , I said ” And watch out I got a weapon !!” With my bible in my hand , I marched to the park.

Soon , while walking down the road, my mind started swirling with thoughts of the jitterbug, The Enemy. . . the enemy,. I thought about how much he hurt folks. How he hogtied them and dragged them through slop like sheep to be slaughtered . I thought bout how folks nowadays were cryin’ and dyin’, moanin’ and groanin’. How every brothers and sister I knew was either hit by the Enemy or was watching how The enemy hit others. Even our brother, Pastor Chris,  would  steady say that folks were all lookin  either “busted or disgusted”. It was all you could see everywhere. All you could see was the bite and bruises  on folks attacked by this faceless foe.

“There is so much damage Daddy” I cried running into another  house on my way to the park      .” Who will fix all this hurt Daddy” I fell to my knees and I looked up . As I looked up,  I saw a picture. It was a picture someone had painted of Jesus’s face.

20151208-103843.jpg

When I looked at the picture, I remembered what Daddy said about Jesus’s face. He said that It was so very different than any other face.  He said it was marred  and not majestic , a face so scary that  we would want to hide our face from it” and yet. . . .”  Daddy  says that this  face is the “radiance of His glory”  He says real boldly to me,” though they spit on this  face , This  face , His face, would heal every person that looked at Him”

“Jesus show your face in the park today “, I prayed

Frog  came very late. We had all been singing and reading Psalm 34 when frog came.  Marilyn had  already shared a picture of how Daddy works in the night to heal us from all them jitterbug bites.  I was amazed how she could draw a picture to explain a poem from Daddy’s book.  Everyone was telling how Daddy did wonderful things for us all while  things looked bad all around.  We were all singing and happy with all Daddy’s goodness

.marilyns drawing

But Fog sat sad.   He sat on a bench in the back. His head hung very low below his shoulders.  I thought how his lungs were still  hurt from the jitterbugs.  I started crying for Frog to Daddy. Some other folks started crying too  And when we were crying to Daddy ,  I became certain that  Jesus was looking at Frog , I was so certain , I thought I saw a light shining right over Frogs’s bench.

As we sang,  The Holy Ghost said ” Go touch Frog” .  I asked some brothers and sisters to go with me, Marilyn, Ann, Barbara,  Joseph, Mary and her friend , all came. As we touched Frog I asked Jesus to turn  His face to us.  Then,  I put my hands on Frogs chest and immediately I felt a light come upon us. “Jesus looks now to heal you ” I said

I kept watching Frog’s face. I kept hearing brothers and sisters around him say “jesus” “jesus” “Jesus” Slowly Frog’s head lifted, , He looked up past the plywood ceiling , probably looked way past the clouds.Maybe he was seeing Jesus peek through the clouds or ride near us on the clouds. I just know  his head tilted and lifted . . And then, . . . . like a Frog.. . . Like Frog croaking out of deep waters, he shouted “Jesus, Jesus, Jesus!!” Then , he stood with arms raised shouting “Thank you Jesus, thank you Jesus” .

Suddenly, I said what I never thought to say.  It was as if the Holy Ghost said it for me: ” we forgive them now, Frog, We forgive the jitterbugs !! The Devil just used them. They were but little darts in his hand.  We forgive them, see we can forgive them . . .. Cause He has forgiven us!!!! We can forgive because  He healed us today!!!” In that moment I forgot every hurt , every sorrow, every pain. FROG AND I WERE HEALED BY THE GLORY OF GOD THROUGH THE FACE OF JESUS CHRIST!!

in the park

THE END. THE AMEN .

Post script: “Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self with its practices and have put on the new self , which is being renewed in KNOWLEDGE AFTER THE IMAGE OF THE CREATOR. .  JESUS .here there is neither  black or white, male or female, BUT CHRIST IS ALL AND IN ALL. SO, then as GOD”S CHOSEN ONES HOLY AND BELOVED, put on compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness and patience, bearing with one another and if one has a complaint against another FORGIVING EACH OTHER AS THE LORD HAS FORGIVEN YOU > ABOVE ALL THESE , PUT ON LOVE WHICH BINDS EVERYTHING TOGETHER IN PERFECT HARMONY. The Grace Gift Giveaway

dreamstime_m_36710025NOW concerning Spiritual Gifts, brothers and sisters, I do not want you to be ignorant( 1 Corinthians 12:1)  For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many , are one body in Christ and individually members one of another having gifts that differ ACCORDING TO THE GRACE GIVEN TO US LET US USE THEM. (Romans 12:4-6)

Our brother, Pastor Chris, has been telling us a lot about “spirit ” gifts from Daddy. He  has also told us about how they look  in folks when folks receive them from Daddy. Every gift looks a little different. But, when the gifts are all put together, like pieces of a puzzle, they display the body of Jesus. Our bestest friend , The Holy Ghost , gives us the gifts from  heaven AND is the Person who puts the pieces  together to make the  body. It is  so awesomely supernatural how this all works.

Sometimes, I think our brother Chris is so amazed about what he is teaching he doesn’t have the words to speak.  That’s the time I see that the Holy Ghost has to talk for him . Other times, Pastor picks  big words to describe all this eternal action. He will say things like “Its the Manifestation of the Impartation of the Glory of God” . Kids like me, get all curious about those Holy Ghost words and especially  those  big words that Big Brothers say to describe Daddy’s doings.

It feels like “Impartation” is Daddy’s giving of  the gift and “Manifestation” is The Holy Ghost showing off of the gift.  But ,  I really  couldn’t be sure of  it all until I started seeing how it worked in Daddy’s children at RLOC .  It all first  started making sense when I started watching my brother Colon open presents from Daddy . Lots of old folks of faith may  say ” silly girl of course ‘seeing is believing’.”  I found out different along time ago.  I found, for the Kids of Daddy, “Hearing then, believing is seeing”.(1)  I had to hear lots of things about gifts before I ever saw what I saw in my Brother Colon. .

See, I don’t know much bout naming and describing all these gifts. I just know I saw Daddy decide to give Colon a gift one day. And I saw everything our Brother Chris talked about get unwrapped in Colon .Since that day , I think alot about how Daddy’s gifts look. They look like different sides of His face. I can’t say that I ever saw Daddy close up. But , I can say that when I look at His presents, it  seems like His presents are part of His Presence . That means, they look like a glimpse of the glorious grace Daddy gave in Our Savior Jesus. Gifts of Grace make everything bright and new . For certain they are light and so bright , our faces start to look like Moses’. (2)

Daddy ‘s letters seem to clump gifts all in categories. like “Mercy”,” Healing”, “Teaching” and such (3). Its like He is taking a whole bunch of His Glory, dividing it up in piles, then packing it tight in a box and putting a name tag on it. He always wraps it  with Love. Finally, He gives it personally to each of His children though the hand of the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost is a person with hands and His hands are always giving something from Daddy.  And the way He does this is just like Jesus would do it.

IMPARTATION

Our Big brother Paul writes the name of every gift off the tags in letters he wrote to the Corinthian and Ephesian and Roman folks. When I read these letters I think of how generous Daddy is . Then , I cant help but think how He showed His giving self best when He gave me Jesus , Seeing the greatness of Jesus, I can only bet that there are more gifts in Daddy’s glorious lap than our puny little hands can hold!!. (4) Maybe that’s why Pastor Chris tells us that sometimes Daddy gives gifts through other folks hands.

But sometimes its not that there is too much to hold but that we just dont want to hold anything from Daddy. We have lots of excuses for not being able to hold the things Daddy is giving us.  Some of us have our hands all balled into fists, others have clasped hands behind heads like we are bored. Others of us have gripping and gropping hands on phones and people and pets and stuff. And still others have  busy hands or bound hands that  forget to open and  receive. .We just can’t be mad or busy or bound and at the same time, expect to get a present from Daddy. We must have open empty hands to get a present.

And, even though Daddy is always saying to us ” eagerly want all my presents child of God”,(5) we cant get a single gift any way but by Him giving it to us. So, when Daddy says for us to want and desire all His gifts , He does not want us to look jealous at a brother or sisters’ gift like we are fixing to steal it or trade it. Daddy gives generously and so He doesn’t like our jealous want of a” gift exchange”. Its just not how He does business. His distribution is to give and give ” as He will”

‘Cause  Jesus really did  “pay it All” , there  ain’t no money exchanged in this gift purchase either!  Jesus bought all of them in advance. Still, Daddy knows some folks try to buy gifts. He  tells bout such a boy named Simon in Acts 9. This boy was really greedy and tried to buy the whole Holy Ghost! Daddy bout “smote” that boy out of this world .

MANIFESTATION

For us who receive the gifts, a whole new world is created on earth. Sometimes I tell Daddy that I would like to see His  kids give their gifts a whirl all at once on a Sunday ! I asked Him about this often until one day He answered. He said  that we can’t all be using our gifts at one time. He says it causes confusion and Daddy likes to keep things both beautiful and orderly in His house.(6)

Hearing Daddy’s instruction ,  I wonder if we kinda hold our gifts behind our back cause we are a little scared . When we first get a gift from Daddy we feel like it might explode and be too noisy. Its quiets me to remember that every instruction is from His Love. And there ain’t nothing scary bout Love. (7) Still , it does seem like we could turn the world upside down with these gifts Daddy gives us. Some of our older brothers certainly did just that (book of ACTS ).  Daddy says they were “bold” but they were patient too . They always listened for  Daddy to say  “it’s time for show and tell”. Jesus is always praying that we will have ears to hear The Holy Ghost speak : ” it’s your turn child of God ” ” Show , tell, that Daddy may be glorified” .

Before we can ” show and tell”,  we gotta know two things , our brother Pastor Chis says. We  gotta know we have a  gift and that gift is for giving Daddy’s  Love away.

On Sunday , Daddy always has a Big Gift giveaway. Big empty hands reach out and hold Daddy’s gifts that He spills out from heavenly places.  . Sometimes I  run around the house trying to see what somebody got as a gift from Daddy. Lots of times I see kids show off their gifts without knowing what they are doing . And sometimes I get to see gifts in brothers and sisters when I am not even looking for them. It is really a beautiful thing.

Like the time when I saw the gift Daddy put in my brother Colon’s hands. The gift that Daddy gave brother Colon was a gift that at first looked really small .Even my brother, Pastor Chris, asked “you sure you see that sister?”

I told him I did. ” yep it’s there brother” I squinted .

Truth be told,  I could barely see it. The Holy Ghost  just gave me a glimpse for a second.  But, the more  I looked  at this gift, in Daddy’s house, the more I would see it get REAL and BIG and FAT. It was like one of those little sponges in a capsule that gets real big with just a few drops of water.

See, Daddy can put just a few drops of water on something and suddenly, it explodes out of its plastic capsule and looks alive. Paul calls our “capsules” “jars of clay”. Old dry Georgia clay looks a little different with a few drops of water. But, we look a whole lots different with a few drops of Holy Ghost water. Big and awe filled, like some creature of Daddy God’s glory. We might want to give what we see  a  certain name from Daddy’s word list of gifts. We might call it  “mercy,”or “hospitality”, or . . .Well, I’m not the one to give a name except to tell you it looked like the Gospel busting out of a plastic shell. It couldn’t help but come out under the spout of the Holy Ghost looking like  Jesus in resurrection power.

Maybe, that  big word “Impartation” looks like a little thing and ” Manifestation” looks really  big. One thing is for sure: they both look and act like Daddy’s Love busting out of a shell.  And like Jesus, busting out of rocks , its got the power to   heal the sick , feed the hungry, cast out demons and raise the dead. Its got that power as we “show and tell” .

Pay closer attention to what we have heard, lest we drift away from it. . . for It was declared at first by the Lord, and it was attested to us by those who heard, while God also bore witness by signs and wonders and various miracles and BY GIFTS of THE HOLY GHOST distributed according to His will. So with yourselves, Child of God, since you are eager for manifestations of the Spirit, strive to excel in building up Daddy’s House with your gifts. Hebrews 2:1 , 3b, 4 and 1 Corinthians 14:12

THE GIVER’S CALL

I remember the day The Holy Ghost asked Colon to help me be a “doorkeeper ” in the house of RLOC. Weeks before, Daddy called brother Colon, He showed me how I wasn’t getting the job done as doorkeeper for Daddy .When He showed me, I saw folks were slipping in the door without a greeting from Daddy. Lots of times Daddy would want to show His hospitality and His Mercy and Help to folks and He couldn’t get the job done. It made me sad . But what made me more sad was knowing that the Holy Ghost was even more sad than I could ever be.

See, I would get so interested in all Daddy’s business away from the door that I would neglect the assignment He gave me. That assignment was : “Child, welcome each one as Jesus has welcomed you unto me” So, instead of focusing on Daddy’s plan, I would go from one seat to the another, in everyone’s business, asking them what Daddy was doing. I would start jumping and chatting and spinning around so much that I was no use for Daddy’s purpose.

One day , when I was running from one brother and sister to another , I tripped and fell into a seat next to Colon’s wife, Debbie and my blood sister, Mary.

Both sisters laughed and then smiled at me. Debbie said “are you okay? maybe you better settle down before you get into some trouble.” My sister Mary said “Rest sister”.

At that moment , the Holy Ghost took my face between His hands and had me look straight up to Daddy. I can’t be sure the words I heard. But, I know I heard something like this: “lookie here doorkeeper, I got work to do round here so more folks will see me, I’m fixin to give you a helper”. I sat next to sisters Debbie and Mary for a minute and then went back to my post at the door.

I figured I better get back to Daddy’s assignment for me before I “for sure got into some trouble” . The Holy Ghost followed me. I sensed Him push me away from all distractions until I got to the back door.

Standing at the back door was a tall gruff looking man. I had noticed before that he was at the back door pretty regular. I also noticed that he would smile real big at folks coming through the door. However, somehow, when he looked at me , it seemed that big smile turned quick upside down. . He looked so scary that I asked Daddy if I could punch or tickle him to just see if he would smile at me like he did other folks.

Before I could get an answer from Daddy, the Holy Ghost pointed and spoke to my spirit. “That man”

Right then , I remembered what the Spirit had spoken earlier about ” a helper”
” Really, him? , a doorkeeper in your house? Are you sure? Are you for real Holy Ghost ?” I questioned.

“Im most certainly sure” the Holy Ghost confirmed

” But really I don’t think this big guy likes me. I’m really positively sure he thinks I’m a little weird AND besides that, I don’t think he trusts me. ” I replied .

That dosen’t matter. It’s not about you ! It’s about HIM and I love this man and this man loves and trusts me. He points to Jesus. ” The Holy Ghost spoke to me for Daddy.

THE GIVER’S GIFT

That same day Brother Colon asked for prayer. I could not hear what he asked Daddy. But, I know that our brother , Pastor Chris, put his hands on Brother Colon and prayed . Both their bodies were shaking with something i think Daddy calls “fervency”. Soon, they stopped shaking and I saw a tear wind down that big gruff man’s face and change everything in its trail. Colon did not wipe it away, He just just kept saying “yes Lord, yes Lord” as our brother Chris prayed. I think that’s when Jesus was praying too and the Holy Ghost was giving Colon the gifts to be a doorkeeper.

Since then, everytime Brother, Pastor Chris, unlocks the door to the church, Colon is a doorkeeper. Together brother Colon and I have kept many doors open. We have kept them opened at church and out of church: , front doors and back doors, bathroom doors, car doors, neighbor doors, kitchen doors, in doors and out doors. And best yet, when folks want prayer , we say “come on lets go over yonder beyond this door to the Mercy seat of Daddy”

I think it might be a total of bout two years that we have been working together as doorkeepers in the Daddy’s house. I am not sure. But, I know for sure that Daddy keeps track of our time.

And Daddy keeps track of everything that time contains. He sees everything. He sees how we have opened doors and shut doors. He sees how we open the door to let the children of God in and He sees how we chase these children down when they try to sneak out the door. He sees how we find seats and Bibles and coloring sheets for His children so that they may hear and believe Daddy’s goodness and love for them. He sees how we watch over His children to keep every hindrance away from them so they can hear Daddy’s voice.

And He sees how, when the wind of the Holy Ghost blows the door wide open, We stand in awe. And when the wind of nature blows the door open, we quietly shut the door to keep all of Daddy’s goodness inside. . . . to keep all of Daddy’s goodness from escaping.

THE GIVER’s GLORY

One day, not long ago, our brother, Pastor Chris, wasn’t at Daddy’s house to unlock the door .He gave another brother the keys. For a moment, Brother Colon and I wondered if the Holy Ghost went traveling with Pastor. The door didn’t feel the same. Like a peice of the puzzle missing we couldn’t see the picture of the body like before. “It ain’t the same brother” I said to brother Colon.

“What’s different ?” Colon demanded

“Well Pastor aint here silly” I said as I punched him.

“The Lord is Here” he said with a wink.

‘yep” I said . Still thinking bout that puzzle piece being missing I couldn’t help but smile at Colons faithful smile every time I punched him.

“you just keep watch over the door lil sis”Colon scolded

So, even with Pastor on vacation, Like all other Sundays, Colon and I were doorkeepers. Doorkeepers who let folks in and watched for the Holy Ghost to come in.

See, The Holy Ghost is always at RLOC He really doesnt ever need a door or certain folks to dwell in .But there is a way that seems like He walks in the door. . Sometimes He seems to comes in and sit skinny in a seat and sometimes He comes in and sits Big and Fat in everyone’s lap. But no matter what it “feels” like, Daddy’s words taught us that “worship brings the His Presence ” .

So on that day, we decided to worship as all Sundays. Singing things about Daddy to Daddy we would get soo close to Daddy. And when we did, we knew that the Holy Ghost was getting fat in the building.

As I sat down after worship, I looked at my brother Colon. He looked all wide eyed , Kinda like like he saw someone else come in the door . I couldn’t figure it out cause he wasn’t looking at the door but looking straight ahead. When I began to sit down he reached over to grab my shoulder.

“put his picture back up”. He demanded “now”

“what picture ?

” The one of Jesus” he said. Micah overheard Brother Colon and imediatly returned the slide to the last song

After Micah put Jesus’s picture on the overhead, brother Colon got up from his seat slowly. I am certain that the Holy Ghost was sitting fat on him for he rose very slow and yet very wide eyed. He stood before us and waved his hand to the picture.

“This is not Jesus. Jesus is alive. And He is here , the Head of this church. But this picture reminds us He is here” Brother Colon said very slowly. I think the Holy Ghost was sitting fat on every word. He continued to slowly release words ending each sentence the chorus “Jesus did for us what no man could do. “He told how Jesus gave us life when we were dead. How Jesus died to give us life. How he was lashed and beaten and stripped and mocked and pierced and nailed that we may be healed and comforted and clothed and forgiven and reborn and resurrected to life. Each word seemed to introduce Jesus into the room. Each word seemed to be handed out by the Holy Ghost to magnify the son. It was quiet when Colon stopped speaking.

There were no “Amens” .  There were no handclaps. One by one, brothers and sisters quietly whispered, “thank you Jesus, thank you Lord”. It felt as if Jesus walked from seat to seat touching each brother and sister with the gospel. But it was not Jesus Himself but the Holy Ghost speaking the gospel into every heart.

Since that morning , I am most certain of the Holy Ghost in Colon. And the Holy Ghost is most magnificent when He does the work of glorifying Jesus. Every day He makes Colon look joyful and certain and full of gospel power.

So I don’t ask Daddy anymore “are you sure?” But I say to Daddy “you sure know how to pick em Daddy!!”

And Daddy replies :
Daughter that aint just a Doorkeeper , that’s the possessor of the Door. And the Door is Jesus!

Romans 15:7 Therefore,  Welcome one another as Christ has welcomed you, for THE GLORY OF GOD!! (The Doorkeeper Pledge)
